Dr Shams Mir MRCVS BVSc&AH, MVSc, DrMedVet, - Vet Associate

Shams as a primary school kid would hurry up home for a quick lunch break to sneak into the Veterinary Surgery near his home in Kashmir countryside to watch surgical and medical procedures on animals. At the age of eight, he carried out his first successful surgical procedure by removing a piece of carrot stuck in a hen’s crop! He graduated in Veterinary Medicine and then obtained a master’s degree in Medicine at a reputed Veterinary College in India.

After few years in general practice, Shams was appointed to the Faculty of Veterinary Science at the S.K University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology at Srinagar, where he taught Medicine for several years. He moved on to the Europe’s pioneering Veterinary School at Hanover in Germany where he acquired a doctoral degree in Veterinary Immunology. He has ever since worked exclusively in Small Animal Hospitals.
